Glossybox UK Harrods Edition

After having seen numerous unboxing videos on YouTube of Glossybox I was eager to try one myself. When I saw that there was going to be a special collaboration with Harrods I decided to finally order it!

Gorgeous sturdy little box :)

So here is what I got in my little box:

Clarins Firming Body Lotion - smells really good and doesn't leave a stickiness on the skin after use. I really liked applying it but I don't know how much it tones and lifts...

This is maybe my favourite - with 50ml quite a lot of product to sample and the smell is simply *yummy*! I got the AB+C bath and shower gel whose smell lingers nicely on the skin after use :)

The SKII-Skin Signature cream - at a whopping £127 a pop I am not sure I would purchase this, especially at my age. It does feel very luxurious though but I will probably give it to my mum as I feel the cream is wasted on my skin..

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara - I have wanted to try this mascara for a while but never got round to it so I was happy when I got it in my box. When I first applied it I wasn't too sure about it - very wet consistency and a huge brush which I felt got all over the place. It did cluster my lashes together a little bit but it was fine. I was worried that because my lashes got extremely lengthened that I would get the infamous racoon eyes which I have gotten from every single mascara I have ever tried (except Mally - my holy grail mascara!) However, the mascara proved not to do this (impressive!) but overall I guess I would stick to my Mally since it is less dramatic for everyday wear but can be layered for a night out! I will definitely use this sample up though!

Valentina by Valentino: In the box I thought it was a bit of a joke to hand out tiny little perfume samples which I can get in any department store for free. However I am really liking this scent and am maybe even thinking of purchasing it so I guess it wasn't all bad!

And last but not least I was disappointed and happy at the same time: I thought that Glossybox was supposed to give out premium size samples and not tiny little "one time use" sachets. However I did notice that this was a bonus product (as I got 6 samples and regularly you only get 5) so I got over myself as this is something I also really wanted to try - so why would I complain. This is the only product of the bunch that I haven't used yet even though I am super eager to do so! I simply haven't worn a lot of make-up this past week and I really wanted to try it on a full face of make-up to see how its holding up!

Overall conclusion: When I first got the box I was disappointed - I thought that the Harrods box would be something amazing with perhaps a full size product or something (haha I was dreaming). However once I thought about it I did get a really good box. I was able to use all of it and will use everything up (except the face cream which I am sure my mum will be happy to try!) and that is not always the case with these sampling things. Also for £10 + postage what did I really expect? I don't know. It was a little test and in the end it didn't turn out so bad! I already have a bunch of nice high end products at home so the novelty factor wasn't that big for me, but I really enjoyed the box and the whole process of it :) So for roughly £13 a fun little girly treat!

Note: I did cancel my subscription right after receiving this box - not necessarily because I wasn't happy but simply because my flat is full of non-essential stuff and I am not beauty junkie enough to possibly use up a full box of products every month! I would however still recommend to give it a try and I would also buy one for my friends and family members for a good fun as it is a cute and little unexpected gift!

Tell me have you ever subscribed / are subscribed to any of the various beauty boxes out there? Which is your favourite beauty box brand? Did you also order the Harrods edition one? If yes: what was in yours and were you happy with it?

Have a great weekend everybody!

  2. That does seem a bit small - esp compared to BirchBox here in the States!

And as my Grandmama always told me... you are never too young for eye cream!

    1. Yes it was rather small, you are right! I know, I use eye cream (almost) religiously but the cream that came with the box is an anti-wrinkle face cream. I have already promised it to my mum :)
